GAZHP Supports 'Lukamantano Zambian Helpers Society' Hospital

At GAZHP’s inception, we hit the ground running in the quest to give back to Zambia. A mutually respectful memorandum of understanding with Lukamantano Zambian Helpers Society Hospital in Chilanga, near Lusaka, Zambia followed in early 2020. This is a small mission 45 minutes south of Lusaka which also has a school. Then the first wave hit Zambia with a predicted high morbidity and mortality. GAZHP agreed to support the hospital to alleviate the impending situation. A rapid fundraising was done within the membership and supporters. Within a short period, material items, medical equipment including for personal protection (PPE) were purchased and delivered via South African partners.

The video clip shows the handover ceremony of the delivered medical items. This was in July 2020. The equipment was handed over by GAZHP, Zambia representative, Medical Virologist, Dr Constantine Malama. This was kindly received by In-charge, Sister Singini, witnessed by Hospital Board Chair Mr Constantine Chimuka, Board Members and District Medical Officer including Dr Mudenda.

The ceremony kicked off with an excellent depiction of importance of togetherness and education by the Lukamantano primary and secondary school girls reciting a poem about the impact of Covid-19 on the lives of the community.
